Privacy policy

Last updated: 4 October 2026

This site collects as little data as possible: the calculators and guides run in your browser and what you type into them never reaches me. Here's what data I do handle, why, and what you can do about it.

Who is responsible for your data

Gayoway Ltd, the company through which I run this site, registered in England and Wales under number 13061591, registered office Jubilee House, East Beach, Lytham St Annes, Lancashire, FY8 5FT, England. It is registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) under number ZB867160.

For anything about your data, write to me from the contact page or, if that doesn't work for you, on LinkedIn (linkedin.com/in/cristinagilg).

What data I handle and why

  • Updates: if you sign up, I keep your email, your name if you give it and the language you signed up in, to let you know about new articles, tools and events. Lawful basis: your consent. You can unsubscribe at any time from the link in every email.
  • Contact form: your name, email and message, so I can reply. Lawful basis: my legitimate interest in replying to people who write to me.
  • The "was this useful?" block: your vote and, if you like, a comment. They're anonymous unless you leave your email so I can reply. Lawful basis: my legitimate interest in improving the content, and your consent if you leave your email.
  • A calculator result by email: I use your address only to send you that email. I don't keep it, or the figures.
  • Tool usage: I count how often each tool is used and in which language, with nothing that identifies you.
  • Visit statistics: Vercel Analytics, Vercel Speed Insights and Metricool, which according to their providers don't use cookies or store your IP. Addresses are sent without parameters, so no figure you've typed ever travels.
  • Abuse protection: to limit spam I keep a hashed, truncated fingerprint of the connection, never the IP address.

Cookies and storage in your browser

This site uses no advertising or tracking cookies. It stores in your own browser (local storage) the language you choose, whether you've already voted on an article and your name if you sign up for updates, to greet you. You can delete it whenever you like from your browser settings.

Who it's shared with

Only with the providers that make the site work, who process the data on my behalf: Vercel (hosting and statistics), Kit (updates list), Web3Forms (contact form), Resend (sending emails), Upstash (votes and comments) and Metricool (statistics). Some are outside the UK, mainly in the United States; in those cases the transfer is made with the safeguards the law requires, such as standard contractual clauses or the UK-US Data Bridge.

I don't sell or pass your data to anyone.

How long I keep it

  • Updates: until you unsubscribe.
  • Contact messages: as long as needed to reply and, at most, two years.
  • Comments from the "was this useful?" block: the latest 300 are kept; older ones are deleted automatically.

Your rights

You can ask me to access, correct or delete your data, restrict or object to its use, take it elsewhere, or withdraw your consent. Write to me and I'll reply within one month.

If you think I haven't handled your data properly, you can complain to the ICO, the UK's data protection authority.

Changes

If I change anything in this policy, you'll see it here with the updated date.
